CHAPTER 88
(House Bill 108)
AN ACT to add a new Section 565A to Article 43 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "Hos-
pitals", to follow immediately after Section 565 thereof, making it
a misdemeanor to maintain and operate a hospital USED AS A
NURSING HOME in violation of the minimum standards promul-
gated by the State Board of Health covering safety and sanitation
in physical plant, theraputic and laboratory facilities and equip-
ment of hospitals USED AS NURSING HOMES AND which are
subject to the provisions of said sub-title and relating generally
to such offense.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 565A be and it is hereby added to Article 43 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Health", sub-
title "Hospitals", to follow immediately after Section 565 thereof,
and to read as follows:
565A. Any person maintaining and operating a hospital USED
AS A NURSING HOME in violation of the minimum standards
promulgated by the State Board of Health covering safety and sani-
tation in physical plant, therapeutic and laboratory facilities and
equipment of hospitals USED AS NURSING HOMES AND which are
subject to the provisions of this sub-title, shall be guilty of a misde-
meanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be liable to a fine of not
more than Ten Dollars ($10.00) for the first offense and not more
than Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) for each subsequent offense; and
each day such hospital USED AS A NURSING HOME shall operate
after a first conviction shall be considered a subsequent offense.
SEC.2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1958.

(House Bill 112)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 12 of
Article 78 74 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957), title
"Pilots", sub-title "Distribution of Pilotage Fees" amending the
Law as to distribution of pilotage fees, defining full member
Pilots, inactive and disabled Pilots, and relating generally to the
rights and privileges of full member Pilots as compared to other
classes of pilots.
