(I) "STAMP" SHALL MEAN ANY EVIDENCE OF TAX PAY-
MENT AUTHORIZED BY THE COMPTROLLER.
(J) "TAXPAYER" SHALL MEAN ANY PERSON LIABLE FOR
PAYMENT OF TAX UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUB-
TITLE.
SEC. 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT IF ANY
ONE OR MORE SECTIONS, CLAUSES, SENTENCES, WORDS
OR PARTS OF THIS ACT SHALL FOR ANY REASON BE QUES-
TIONED IN ANY COURT, AND SHALL BE ADJUDGED UN-
CONSTITUTIONAL OR INVALID, SUCH JUDGMENT SHALL
NOT AFFECT, IMPAIR OR INVALIDATE THE REMAINING
PROVISIONS HEREOF BUT SHALL BE CONFINED IN ITS
OPERATION TO THE SPECIFIC PROVISIONS SO HELD UN-
CONSTITUTIONAL OR INVALID, AND THE INAPPLICABIL-
ITY OR INVALIDITY OF ANY SECTION, CLAUSE OR PRO-
VISION OF THIS ACT IN ANY ONE OR MORE INSTANCES
SHALL NOT BE TAKEN TO AFFECT OR PREJUDICE IN ANY
WAY ITS APPLICABILITY OR VALIDITY IN ANY OTHER IN-
STANCE.
SEC. 6. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT ALL LAWS
AND PARTS OF LAWS AND ALL REGULATIONS, ORDI-
NANCES AND RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED PURSUANT THERE-
TO, BY THE STATE OR ANY POLITICAL SUB-DIVISION
THEREOF, BE AND THE SAME ARE HEREBY SUPERSEDED
TO THE EXTENT OF ANY INCONSISTENCY WITH THE PRO-
VISIONS OF THIS ACT.
SEC. 7. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
SHALL TAKE EFFECT JUNE 1, 1957.

(House Bill 322)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 356 and
359 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edi-
tion), title "Health", sub-title "Optometry", increasing the regis-
tration fee for the practice of optometry so as not to exceed the
sum of $10.00 per annum and allowing qualified optometrists to
prescribe or provide concave glasses without any restriction as to
age.
