Preamble.
|
An act for the support of Stephen Caywood of
Montgomery county.
WHEREAS, Stephen Caywood of Montgomery
county, by his petition to this General Assembly
has set forth, that he is far advanced in life, upwards
of seventy years of age, and labors under many of
the infirmities of old age which render him incap-
able of providing for himself any longer, and pray-
ing that some relief may be granted to him out of
the poor house, and the facts stated in his petition
appearing true: Therefore,

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the justices of the levy court of Mont-
gomery county shall be, & they are hereby empowered
at their levy court annually, so long as they shall see
cause, to assess and levy on the assessable property
of said county, a sum of money not exceeding thirty
dollars, for the support and maintenance of the said
Stephen Caywood, and that the same be collected
annually by the collector of Montgomery county,
and by him paid to the said Stephen Caywood or his
order.

Preamble.
|
An act to prevent trespasses in Allegany county.
WHEREAS, It hath been represented to this
General Assembly, that divers persons not citizens
of this State, are in the habit of bringing large num-
bers of cattle, horses and hogs into the upper part of
Allegany county, and there leaving them to graze
and pasture during the summer season, to the great
injury and annoyance of the settlers and citizens,
thereby retarding the improvement and progress of
said county, and it being the duty of the State to
protect its citizens and encourage the settlement of
its vacant lands: Therefore,
