that the said Francis Holland has fully complied
with the provisions of the said act, at no small ex-
pence, by having the road opened, made and straight-
ened so far as it runs through Anne Arundel county
that the said James Croxall neglected to comply
with the said act, and is since dead, and that that
part of the said road which runs through Baltimore
county has never been opened, made and straighten-
ed as contemplated by the said act, in consequence of
which the said Francis Holland suffers great injury;
Therefore,

SEC. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That William Baker, Charles Bohn,
junior, William Ashman, Peter Forney & Daniel Hoff-
man be, and they are hereby appointed commission-

ers to straighten and amend the road now open and
used, from James Croxall's point, on the river
Patapsco, until it intersects the George-Town road at
or near Mrs. Carroll's bridge, on Gwinn's falls in Bal-
timore county, of a width not exceeding; thirty feet;
and the said road when so straightened and amended,
and the valuation herein after directed to be made
shall have taken place, shall be recorded by the clerk
of. Baltimore county, and shall forever thereafter be
deemed and taken to be a public highway, and kept
in repair as other public roads in said county.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said com-
missioners or a majority of them, shall ascertain and
value what damages may be sustained by any person
or persons through whose lands the said road shall
pass, taking into consideration the advantages and
disadvantages, (if any; ) and the same when so assess-
ed shall, be paid, or secured to be paid by the said
Francis Holland, to the person or persons entitled to
receive the same, within six months after the said
damages shall be ascertained in the mode prescribed
by this act.

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That if any per-
son or persons through whose lands the said roads,
shall pass, or his, her or their guardian, or trustee,
shall conceive himself, herself or themselves ag-
grieved by such valuation and assessment of dama-
ges by the said commissioners respectively, it shall
and may be lawful for any justice of the peace, on
his, her or their application, to issue his warrant un-
der his hand and seal, directed to the sheriff of the
county, commanding him to summon twelve disin-
terested men, qualified by law to serve as jurors in
the county court, to meet upon the premises on a
