CHAPTER 186.
An act for the sale of the real estate of Thomas
Chesley and Henrietta Chesley, late of Calvert
county, deceased.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, It hath been represented to this Gen-
eral Assembly, by the petition of John R. E. Ches-
ley, one of the heirs at law of the. said Thomas Ches-
ley and Henrietta Chesley, that the said Thomas
Chesley and Henrietta Chesley departed this life in-
testate, leaving the following children, to wit: The
petitioner John R. E. Chesley, Thomas Henry Egan
Chesley, of the age of fourteen years, James Alex-
ander Chesley, of the age of ten years, Henrietta
Maria Chesley, of the age of eighteen years, and
Eloisa Anna Victoria Chesley, of the age of fourteen
years, to whom the real estate of the said Thomas.
Chesley and Henrietta Chesley, hath descended in a
due course of law; that the said real estate consists
of the following tracts or parcels of land, situate and
lying in Calvert and Saint Mary's county, to wit:
A certain tract or parcel of land, known as a part of
Brooke Place Manor, lying and situate in Calvert
county, and containing two hundred and sixty-six
acres, more or less; also one other tract or parcel of
land, likewise known as part of. Brooke Place Ma-
nor, situate in the county aforesaid, and containing
four hundred and seventy-four acres, more or less; as
also a small and detached piece or parcel of land,
containing about twenty acres, more or less, and
situate in said county; a tract or parcel of land, ly-
ing and being in said county and containing two hun-
tlred and five acres, more or less, a part of said ma-
nor; and also one other parcel of land, lying in Saint
Mary's county, and containing from one hundred and
ninety to two hundred acres, more or less; and that
the buildings and improvements thereon are in a state
of rapid decay and must shortly be wholly destroyed,
and that it would conduce greatly to the interest and
advantage of the legal representatives of the said
Thomas Chesley and Henrietta Chesley, if the said
real estate was directed to be sold for the benefit of
the parties interested, on the terms herein after pre-
scribed; and the facts stated in the said petition ap-
pearing to be true: Therefore,

SEC 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That Peter Emerson, of Cal-
vert county be, and he is hereby authorised and em-
powered as trustee, to set up and expose to public-
sale, the lands and premises aforesaid, after giving
