proper for carrying into effect the object of this insti-
tution, and by such ordinances to appoint seven of
their own body to be visitors of the Central Acade-
my at Snow-Hill, delegating to the said visitors such
powers and authorities, as they may deem expedient
for the government and discipline of the teachers,
scholars and others of the said seminary.

1812.

4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That so soon as
the said trustees shall be enabled with sufficient funds
either by legislative donations or otherwise to estab-
lish or endow one or more county schools for the
purposes of common English education, they are
hereby authorised and empowered to appoint a com-
mittee or committees of their own body, to be styled
Patrons of the said school or schools, who shall be
accountable to the said trustees and their successors
for the faithful discharge of their duties in such man-
ner and under such regulations as the said trustees
may establish or appoint.

5. AND BE IT ENACTED, That all and sin-
gular the property, real, personal and mixed, belong-
ing to the visitors of Worcester county school, in
their corporate capacity, as soon as the same is reduc-
ed into their possession, and also the lot or lots of
ground in Snow-Hill, with the houses, buildings and
appertenances thereon heretofore held in trust for the
trustees of the Snow-Hill academy, with all other
the property, real, personal or mixed to which they or
any other person or persons have or may hold in
trust for them for the use of said academy, shall be,
and is hereby vested in the said trustees of the
Union Academy, and shall. forever hereafter be deni-
ed, considered and held as their right and property
for the purposes of this act.

6. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said
trustees or a majority of them, shall meet for the first
time on the first Wednesday in April next, and
qualify themselves for the office of trustees by taking
the several oaths to government appointed by the
constitution and laws of this State, and the constitu-
tion of the United States, and also by taking the
following oath, to wit: "I, A. B. do swear that I
will duly and faithfully discharge the trust committed
to me, as trustee of the Union Academy, to the best
of my skill and knowledge, so help me God; " which oath
shall be administered by any justice of the peace of said
county; and any trustee who is prevented from at-
tending the said meeting, may attend at any subse-
quent meeting and qualify in the same manner.
