Foot ways.

such lot or lots of ground, or holding a lot or lots
opposite to and fronting on such street lane or alley.
7. AND BE IT ENACTED, That whenever
a majority of the owners of property on. any street
lane or alley, shall make application in writing, to
have the foot ways paved, after such street lane or
alley shall have been paved, the commissioners shall
give thirty days notice in one or more of the news-
papers printed in Baltimore, for the performance of
the same, and if the same is not done within that
time, the commissioners shall then contract, with a
proper person or persons to do the work, and charge,
levy, and collect the expense thereof, equally per

8. AND BE IT ENACTED, That whenever
any holder or holders of any lot. or lots shall make
application in writing, to have the same established,
the commissioners after giving ten days notice in one or
more of the news-papers printed in Baltimore, shall
meet and establish the corner of the street lane or
alley from whence the applicant or applicants con-
veyance or conveyances take departure, and then es-
tablish the applicant's lot or lots agreeably to the
respective metes and bounds expressed in the limits
thereof, and charge, levy and collect the expense of
such establishment from the person benefited, or
from the applicant or applicants.

9 AND BE IT ENACTED, That the commis-
sioners are hereby authorised and empowered to barr
any street lane or alley while digging down, paving
or repairing for such time as they may think proper
and necessary, and if any person or persons shall
remove such barr, and being convict thereof, shall
forfeit and pay a fine of fifteen dollars for every
such offence, which forfeiture or fine shall be re-
covered by the commissioners before any justice of
the peace.

10. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the foot
ways of all streets lanes or alleys of twenty feet in
width and upwards, shall not exceed more in width
than one fifth of such street lane or alley, and that
no person or persons shall be permitted or suffered
to extend into any street lane or alley, the cellar-
doors, steps, porches or piaza's, more than one third
of the width of the foot-way from the line of any
street lane or alley.

11. AND BE IT ENACTED, That all costs,
charges and expenses for repairing leveling, paving,
filling up or digging down streets, lanes or alleys,
