LAWS OF MARYLAND, Nov. SESS, 1812.

George Winchester, William Greetham, Solomon
Etting, James Barroll, William Steuart, John Ogs-
ton, Jacob Small, George Keyser, Edward Palmer,
William Camp, William M 'Donald, Isaac Dickson,
Joseph K. Stapleton, Edward G. Woodyear, Beale
Randall, Charles Wirgman, Thomas Sweeting and
Jonathan Meredith, or a majority of them be, and
they are hereby authorised to propose a scheme or
schemes of a lottery or lotteries, and to sell and dis-
pose of the tickets, as well in the city of Baltimore as
in any other part of the State, clear of city taxes,
any law to the contrary notwithstanding, for raising
a sum of money not exceeding fifty thousand dollars,
for the purpose of purchasing a lot of ground and
erecting thereon a Masonic Hall, in the city of Bal-
timore.

Managers

shall give
bond.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That before the
said John Crawford, Tobias E. Watkins, Peter Little,
Peter Gait, Abraham Larsh, Junr. Samuel Moale,
Edward J. Coale, George Winchester, William
Greetham, Solomon Etting, James Barroll, William
Steuart, John Ogston, Jacob Small, George Keyser,
Edward Palmer, William Gamp, William M'Donald,
Isaac Dickson, Joseph K. Stapleton, Edward G.
Woodyear, Beale Randall, Charles Wirgman, Tho-
mas Sweeting and Jonathan Meredith, proceed to
make sale of any ticket or tickets in said lottery or
lotteries, they shall give bond in the penalty of one
hundred thousand dollars, conditioned that they will
well and truly conduct the drawing of said lottery or
lotteries, and within sixty days after the drawing
thereof, apply so much of the money arising therefrom,
as may be necessary to the payment of the prizes
drawn therein, to the adventurers to whom they may
be due, and the necessary expenses incurred in the
management thereof, and conditioned also for the
faithful application of the sum received by them out
of the said lottery, to the uses and purposes herein
before mentioned, and according to the true intent
and meaning of this act.

Bond shall
be lodged in

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said bond
shall be given to and in the name of the State of Ma

ryland, and lodged in the office of the clerk of Balti-
more county, and upon said bond or an authenticated
office copy thereof, suit or suits may be instituted for
any breach or non-compliance with the condition
thereof.

4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That upon the re-
