AN ACT to authorise the county commissioners of
Howard county, to levy a sum of money, to build a
school house in primary school district number six in
Howard county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That James Clark, Samuel France and
J. P. Ijams, be, and they are hereby appointed com-
missioners to build a school house, in primary school
district number six in Howard county, and that said
commissioners or a majority of them, shall have full
power and authority to sell the present school house in
said district, together with the lot of ground attached
thereto, and apply the proceeds of the sale thereof, to
the erection of a school house in said school district, to
be erected on some eligible cite to be selected by said
commissioners in said primary school district, near the
old Distillery Spring.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That at any time the
board of commissioners of Howard county, shall be
satisfied by a certificate in writing from the commission-
ers appointed by the first section of this bill, or a majori-
ty of them, shall have secured a legal title to a lot of
ground and entered into a contract for the building of a
suitable school house thereon, the said board of com-
missioners of Howard county, at their next annual levy
for county purposes, are hereby authorised and empow-
ered to levy on the assessable property of Howard
county, the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars, to
meet the expanses of building said school house, and
shall pay or draw on the Treasurer of the county, in
favor of said commissioners the amount of money so
levied.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this bill shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
