LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Union Bank of Maryland shall hereafter pay the an-
nual school tax of twenty cents only on each hundred
dollars of the capital stock of said bank so reduced by
the purchase and extinguishment of its stock, as afore-
said, and upon any increase of the capital stock which
may hereafter be made.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That nothing herein
contained shall exempt the cashier of said bank from
transmitting to the treasurer of the State the annual
statements required by the fifth section of the act of
eighteen hundred and twenty-six, chapter two hundred
and fifteen.

AN ACT to provide for the payment of the counsel fee
and costs incurred by the county commissioners for
Anne Arundel county, in the case of William M.
Chauvenet, against them, arising under the act of

eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter three hun-
dred and thirty-seven.

Sum appro-
priated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the sum of one hundred and thirty-
one dollars and thirty cents be and the same is hereby
appropriated to pay the counsel fee and costs of suit in-
curred by the county commissioners for Anne Arundel
county, in the case of William M. Chauvenet, against
them, originating under the provisions of the act en-
titled, an act to provide for the general valuation and
assessment of property in this State, passed at the
January session, eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chap-
ter three hundred and thirty-seven, and decided at the
December term, eighteen hundred and fifty-two, of the
court of appeals; and that the treasurer be and he is here-
by authorised and required, upon the warrant of the
comptroller, to pay to Henry M. Murray, the counsel
employed by the comptroller, under the thirty-fourth
section of the said act, for his services rendered in the
trial of said case, the sum of one hundred dollars; to
William M. Chauvenet, for costs adjudged to him, the
sum of nineteen dollars and thirty-three cents, and to
the county commissioners for Anne Arundel county,
