Resolution requesting our Representatives in Congress
to use their exertions to secure the passage of a law
extending the provisions of the act of Congress of
September twenty eight, eighteen hundred and fifty,
in order that the soldiers therein provided for, may
receive an amount equal to one hundred and sixty
acres of land.
WHEREAS, a bill is now pending before the Congress
of the United States, placing the soldiers engaged in
the War with Great Britain, declared by the United
States, on the eighteenth of June, eighteen hundred
and twelve, upon the same fooling as those who
were engaged in the War with Mexico; Therefore,
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That our Senators and Representatives in Congress
be requested to use their best exertions to secure the
passage of a law extending the provisions of the act of
Congress of September twenty-eight, eighteen hundred
and fifty, in order that the soldiers therein provided for,
may receive an amount equal to one hundred and sixty
acres of land.
Resolved, That his Excellency the Governor, be re-
quested to forward a copy of these resolutions to each of
our Senators and Representatives in Congress, in or-
der that they may be laid before their respective bodies.
