CHAPTER 307.

AN ACT to incorporate the German Reform and
Evangelical Lutheran Congregations of Lazarus
Church, in Carroll county.

Mar, 10, 1854.

WHEREAS, application has been made to this General
Assembly, for an act of incorporation in behalf of the
German Reformed and Evangelical Lutheran Con-
gregations of Lazarus church in Carroll county,
which may enable them to manage with convenience
their temporal concerns.

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That George Grove, Jacob Bowman,
Lewis H. P. Weaver, and Nimrod Brodbeck, Elders
and Deacons of the German Reformed Congregation,
and George Walker, Adam B. Wentz, Henry B.
Streaving, and Abdiel R. Wentz, Elders and Deacons
of the Evangelical Lutheran Congregations and their
successors, to be elected agreeably to the rates and re-
gulations of said church, shall be and hereby are creat-
ed and declared a body politic and corporate by the
name, style and title of the trustees of Lazarus church
in Carroll county, and by that name shall have succes-
sion, and shall be able to sue and be sued, to implead
and be impleaded in any court of law or equity in this
State, or elsewhere, and to make and have a common
seal,and the same to break, alter or renew at their plea-
sure, and also to ordain and establish such by-laws and
ordinances as shall appear necessary for regulating the
temporal concerns of said church, and for promoting
literature within the same, not repugnant to this act or
the law of this State.

Incorporated.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all the lands and
tenements shall be, and are absolutely and uncondition-
ally vested in said body corporate, and their successors,
and the said corporation shall be, and they are hereby
declared capable of bargaining and selling, leasing and
conveying any part of the said property or any other
property which may hereafter be acquired by the said
corporation, in as full and effectual a manner as any
person or body corporate may or can do.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all acts and deeds
of the said corporation shall be signed by the trustees; in
behalf of the corporation, and sealed with their corpo-
