the collector of the public county assessment has to
destrain for the same, and that the said president and
commissioners shall fix the term of office, responsibility
and compensation of said collector.

Power to ap-
point bailiff.
|
SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the said commis-
sioners or a majority of them, shall have full power and
authority annually to appoint a bailiff, whose duty it
shall be to preserve the peace and good order of said
town, and for the purposes of said corporation, he is
hereby invested with the same power and authority as
any constable may now have under the laws of this
State.

Repealed.
|
SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That any act of in-
corporation of said town inconsistent with this act, be,
and the same is hereby repealed.

AN ACT to alter and amend the act entitled, an act to
authorise the Governor of Maryland to appoint an
Inspector of Flour for the Town of Cumberland, pass-
ed at December session eighteen hundred and forty-
fire, chapter two hundred and ten.
|

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, in consequence of the small quantity of
flour to be inspected in Cumberland, and the large
tax required to be paid for the commission of a flour
inspector, the said town of Cumberland has been de-
prived of the benefits of such inspection; Therefore,
|
|
|
Amount to be
paid by in-
spector.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the clerk of the circuit court for
Allegany county be and he is hereby authorised to de-
liver the commission of flour inspector in Cumberland,
to the person who may be appointed to that office upon
his paying a tax of five dollars for the same, for the use
of this State.
