CHAPTER 239.

AN ACT authorising the county commissioners of How-
ard county, to compensate Henry McDade, for the
loss of his slave killed, while struggling to preserve the
peace of the Stale.
|

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the county commissioners of Howard county, be,
and they are hereby authorised and required to levy on
the assessable properly of Howard county, the sum of
fire hundred dollars, towards satisfying Henry McDade,
a poor man, for the loss of his only slave, who was
killed in endeavoring to preserve the peace, and separ-
ate combatants, who were disturbing the order and quiet
of the State.

AN ACT appropriating a sum of money for the pay-
ment of John Palmer.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer is hereby required
on the warrant of the Comptroller to pay to John Pal-
mer, or his order, three dollars and eighty-six cents,
being the amount due him as clerk of the circuit court
for Queen Anne's county, by the State of Maryland.
