CHAPTER 206.

AN ACT to form a new election district out of the
fourth and fifth election districts of Washington
county.

New district
laid off.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That a new election district shall be
laid off and taken from the fourth and fifth election dis-
tricts in Washington county, to he contained within the
following boundaries, namely: beginning at the mouth
of a run emptying into the Potomac river, in election
district number five, known as Doctor Jacques' saw
mill run, thence to the Pennsylvania line, near a new
bridge across Licking creek, in Pennsylvania, thence
east along the Pennsylvania line, to the lop of a moun-
tain commonly called Blair's valley mountain, and
with the top of said mountain to the turnpike at Fair-
view, thence with the turnpike to William Kline's,
thence with the top of the stone quarry ridge to the
Potomac, on the lands of Tobias Johnson, thence to
the Potomac river, thence along the bed of said river to
the place of beginning; and the commissioners of Wash-
ington county are hereby authorised and directed, to
appoint Lancelot Jacques, John T. Mason, John J.
Bowles, Henry W. Delinger and Solomon Helser, or
any three of them, to order the lines of the said district
to be run, and a plat of the same to be returned by the
surveyor of the county, and filed in the office of the
clerk of the circuit court for Washington county and
recorded.

Name & style.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said new elec-
tion district shall be known and styled the thirteenth
election district for Washington county, and that the
polls for said new district designated and bounded as
aforesaid, shall be opened and held at such place in said

district, as the commissioners of said county shall desig-
nate, and the said commissioners shall give at least
twenty days notice of the place so designated, by adver-
tisement published in all the newspapers published in
said county, and at any time hereafter, if in the opinion
of the said commissioners, the convenience, of the elec-
tion of said district would bo promoted thereby, the said
commissioners shall have the power to designate any
other place in said district for holding the election, upon
giving notice thereof as aforesaid.
