SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from and after the passage thereof.

CHAPTER 17.

Passed
Mar. 1, 1854.

AN ACT appropriating a sum of money to repay to
James T. Blackiston, of St. Mary's county, money
erroneously paid into the Treasury.

Sum appro-
priated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the sum of one thousand and forty-
five dollars and fifty-four cents be and the same is here-
by appropriated to pay to James T. Blackiston, the
amount paid by him as one of the securities of Alexan-
der Milburn, collector of St. Mary's county, on account
of a judgment obtained by the State of Maryland
against the said Alexander Milburn and others, which
judgment was reversed by the court of appeals and the
costs of said suit.

Authority to
pay.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Treasurer is
hereby required, on the warrant of the Comptroller, to
pay to the said James T. Blackiston the said sum of
one thousand and forty-five dollars and fifty-four cents.

In force.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 18.

Passed
Mar. 1, 1854.

AN ACT prescribing the form of oaths, and before
whom to be taken, in the cases therein mentioned.

Form of oath.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That it shall only be necessary for an
officer who is required to take and subscribe the oath
prescribed by the fourth section of the first article of
the Constitution, to declare orally, at the time, his be-
