LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Charge for
transportation.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That the said shall be
entitled to charge and take for the transportation of any
parcel or article on such rail road or roads any distance
whatever, ten cents, and a like sum for taking up and
selling down any person who shall travel a distance
not exceeding eight miles in addition to the charge of
four cents per mile for the conveyance of such person.

Banking for-
bid.

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That nothing herein
contained shall be taken or construed to authorise the
said company, either directly or indirectly to exercise or
use banking privileges or to issue any certificate or evi-
dence of debt to he used as currency.

Connections.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That at any time with
the consent of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore,
connections may be made with the Baltimore and Elys-
ville road for the purpose of distributing transportation
to any point or points within the limits of the corpora-
tion of Baltimore.

Right to pur-
chase road.

SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That the Baltimore and
Ohio Rail Road Company may at any time within five
years, from and after the completion of the Baltimore
and Elysville Rail Road Company, may at any time
within five years from, and the completion of the Balti-
more and Elysville, elect, to purchase from the presi-
dent, directors and company thereof, the entire road,
its rights, privileges and appurtenances at the cost, price
thereof, and shall also have the tight, in the meantime
of connecting by a branch road any or all of the termini
of their present location with the Baltimore and Elys-
ville rail road.

Obstruction.

SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That it shall not be
lawful for said company in the construction of said road
to obstruct any highway, street or public avenue or to
effect in any manner the use of the same as is now re-
quired by the public, and the said road, shall not be lo-
cated nearer the northern limits of the city, than one
mile thereof.

Depot.


Reservation.

SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That said Baltimore and
Elysville Hail Road Company, shall establish a depot
in connection with said road at or near the North West-
ern section of the city of Baltimore.
SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That the legislature re-
serves the right to alter, amend or repeal this act at
pleasure.

Terminus.

SEC. 21. And be it enacted, That the Eastern termi-
nus of said Elysville rail road shall be a connection
