CHAPTER 173.

AN ACT authorising and empowering the county com-
missioners of Queen Ann county to levy such sum of
money, as in their judgment may be necessary for the
support of Philip H. Potts, of said county, who is
deaf and dumb and of weak mind.

Mar. 10, 1854.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, Thai the county commissioners of Queen
Ann county be, and they are hereby authorised and
empowered to levy such a sum of money annually as
in their judgment may be necessary for the maintenance
end support of Philip H. Potts, of said county, who is
deaf and dumb and also of weak mind; Provided,
they shall be of opinion that the said Philip H. Potts
ought to be supported by the county.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 174.

In force.

AN ACT to authorise the Washington County Bank to
establish an office of discount and deposit in Hagers-
town, in Washington county.

Passed
Mar. 10, 1854.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the president and directors of the
Washington County Bank, at Williamsport, in this
State, be, and they are hereby empowered to establish
in the town of Hagerstown, in Washington county, an
office of discount and deposit for said bank whenever
in the judgment of said president and directors, for the
time being, the same may be deemed by them proper
and expedient.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That for the purpose of
said office and for conducting and managing its busi-
ness, the said president and directors shall have power
