AN ACT to authorize a single Justice of the Peace to
take acknowledgment of deeds and other instru-
ments.
|
|
|
Single justice
competent.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That a single justice of the peace shall
be competent to take acknowledgments of deeds or
wilier instalments of writing in all the cases where two
justices of the peace are now required.
|
|
|
Fee.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That a single justice
of the peace, who is hereby authorised to take acknowl-
edgments in cases where two justices were before re-
quired, shall be entitled to demand and receive the fee
heretofore allowed to him for such service.
|
|
|
In force.
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the first day of April next.

AN ACT entitled an act appointing commissioners to
establish a free school in or near the Long Old Fields,
Prince George's county.
|
|
|

|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Thomas R. Brooks, James J. Jar-
boe and William F. Betty, of Prince George's county,
be, and they are hereby appointed commissioners, and
they or a majority of them are hereby authorised and
empowered, to establish and locate a free school in or
near the village of the Long Old Fields, in said county,
if in their opinion it will conduce to the interests of the
inhabitants of said village and neighborhood.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said commis-
sioners shall, as soon as may be after the passage of
this act, proceed to locate said school, and they are
hereby authorised to condemn a lot of land in or near
said village, upon which to erect a school house, and
contract for and superintend the erection thereof, and
