CHAPTER 165.

AN ACT to incorporate the Trustees of the Parsonage
of the Hagerstown Circuit of the United Brethren in
Christ.

Mar. 10,1854.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Frederick Rohur, Samuel Deaner,
Jacob A. Thomas, Joshua Harpe and Joel Doub, joint
trustees of the parsonage of the Hagerstown circuit of
the United Brethren in Christ, and their successors are
hereby declared to be a corporation and body politic, by
the name, style and title of the trustees of the parson-
age of the Hagerstown circuit of the United Brethren
in Christ.

Incorporated.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the present trustees
and their successors by the style and title aforesaid, shall
and may have succession, and shall at all times here-
after be able and capable in law, to sue and be sued,
plead and be impleaded, answer and be answered, de-
fend and be defended in all or any courts of justice, in
all actions, matters and demands whatsoever, and that
all process that may hereafter be instituted against the
said corporation may be served on either of the trustees
aforesaid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the present trustees

and their successors, shall by their corporate name be
persons able and capable in law to purchase, take, have
and enjoy to them and their successors in fee or less
estate, any lands, tenements, rents, annuities, chattles
or public securities within this State, and the same at
their pleasure to transfer, sell, lease or alter in such
manner as they may deem most condusive to the in-
terest of the said corporation; Provided, that the said
corporation shall not at any one time hold or possess
property, real, personal or mixed, exceeding in total
value the sum of five thousand dollars.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the quarterly con-
ference of the Hagerstown circuit of the United Brethren
in Christ, shall annually elect five persons from the
members in full standing and communion in said con-
ference, in such mode and at such time as the by-laws
of said corporation may direct, which said five persons
so elected, shall constitute the trustees of the parsonage
of the Hagerstown circuit of the United Brethren in
Christ.
