CHAPTER 156.

AN ACT for the relief of the sureties on the bonds of
William Lyles of Thomas, former collector of the third
collection District of Prince George's county.

Sureties re-
leased.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the sureties on the official bonds
of William Lyles of Thomas, former collector for the
third collection district of Prince George's county, be,
and they are hereby released from the payment of in-
terest on the State's claims against said Lyles; Provid-

ed, That the amount due for principal on said claims,
in the suit or suits now pending against said bonds in
the circuit court for Prince George's county, with the
cost, shall be paid as follows: one-third thereof on or
before the first day of November next, one-third on or
before the first day of April eighteen hundred and fifty-
five, and the residue on or before the first day of No-
vember thereafter, upon the adjustment of said claims
by the Comptroller; Provided however, that said sure-
ties shall not be released from the payment of such in-
terest as has been received by the said collector or his
sureties nor for such as may be due by the tax payers
on the taxes now due by them, nor from the interest
accruing on the principal from the passage of this act.

In force.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 157.

AN ACT amendatory of an act passed January session
eighteen hundred and fifty-three, chapter two hun-
dred and thirty-seven, entitled an act to repeal the
charter of the Washington and Rockville Turnpike
Company, passed December session eighteen hundred
and seventeen, chapter ninety-seven.

Repealed.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That so much of the first section of the act
passed January session eighteen hundred and fifty
