CHAPTER 143.

AN ACT to establish a new election district in Fred-
erick county, out of parts of the eighth and eleventh
election districts in said county.

Mar. 9, 1854.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Nicholas Norris, Jacob Root and
Daniel S. Herring or a majority of them, be, and they
are hereby appointed commissioners to lay off and es-
tablish a new election district out of parts of the eighth
and eleventh election districts of Frederick county, and
to make choice of a place in the said election district at
which the election shall be held.

ers appointed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commission-
ers or a majority of them, in defining the boundaries of
said district, shall commence at or near the stone bridge
across Pipe Creek, near Diffendall's Mill; thence by
the most suitable line to some point at or near Ladies-
burg; thence by the most suitable line to the Hill
School House; thence to some point at or near the Cop-
per mine School House; thence with the Copper Mine
Road, to some point at or near Nicholas Norris's farm,
from thence to Sam's creek, the dividing line between
Frederick and Carroll counties, and thence with said
dividing tine to the place of beginning, and the said
commissioners or a majority of them, shall on or be-
fore the first Monday of November eighteen hundred
and fifty-four, deliver to the clerk of the circuit court
for Frederick county, a description in writing under
their hands and seals specifying plainly the boundaries
and number of the said election district so laid off, and
the place where the election for said district shall be
held, which place shall be the town of Johnsville in
said county, and the said clerk shall record the same
among the records of said county, and transmit a copy
thereof to the Governor.

SEC 3. And be it enacted, That the sheriff of Fred-
erick county, shall give notice of the place of holding
the election in such election district so laid off, by caus-
ing the same to be inserted in one or more newspapers
printed in Frederick county, once a week for at least
two months previous to holding the election in Novem-
ber eighteen hundred and fifty five.

missioners named in this act should die, remove out of
the county, or refuse to accept his appointment before
