sufficient bond, to be approved by the said commission-
ers, in the penal sum of twenty thousand dollars, for
the faithful performance of his duty as treasurer of said
county, and such further duties us are by this act im-
posed upon him as treasurer aforesaid, and shall within
thirty days after his election hereafter, in like manner
execute and deliver a like bond, to be approved by said
commissioners, under a like penalty, for the faithful
performance of his duties aforesaid, in default of which
the said treasurer shall forfeit his office; and the county
commissioners aforesaid shall declare the said office to
be vacant, and shall proceed to fill the same by the ap-
pointment of a suitable person, for the remainder of the
term for which said treasurer may have been elected ;
and such appointee, shall, before he enters upon the
duties of the office of treasurer of said county, execute
and deliver a bond of the same tenor and in like man-
ner, as is herein provided, to be executed and delivered
by the treasurer of said county, and the said county
commissioners are hereby authorised at any time, to
demand and require such further bond, with such fur-
ther surety, as in their judgment the interests of said
county may require.

SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That the act passed at
December session, eighteen hundred and forty-one,
chapter two hundred and seven, entitled an act for the
better regulation and enforcement of collection of the
taxes in Baltimore county, and the first section of the
act passed at December session, eighteen hundred and
thirty-seven, entitled a further supplement to an act
to provide for electing commissioners for Baltimore
county, and prescribing their powers and duties, chapter
three hundred and thirty-six, and so much of the se-
cond section of an act passed at December session, eigh-
teen hundred and forty-six, entitled, an act entitled an
act to elect the treasurer of Baltimore county by the
people, so far as the said act relates to the treasurer's
bond, and the act passed at December session, eighteen
hundred and forty-six, chapter three hundred and forty-
nine, entitled an act for the more prompt and economi-
cal collection of the State and county taxes in the county
of Baltimore, except the fifth and ninth sections thereof,
and also any other act in force inconsistent with or re-
pugnant to the provisions of this act, be, and the same
are hereby repealed.

SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from and after the date of its passage.
