Affairs subject
to treasur-
er's inspec-
tion.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the business and
affairs of the institution hereby intended to be incorpo-
rated, shall be at all times subject to the inspection of
the Treasurer of the State of Maryland, or such other
officer or agents of the State as may be selected for that
purpose by either branch of the Legislature.

In force.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That this act shall be
continued in force for twenty years, and until the end
of the next session of the General Assembly that shall
happen thereafter, unless sooner repealed by the Legis-
lature.

Liability.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the stockholders
and directors shall be liable to the amount of their re-
spective share or shares of stock, for all the debts and
liabilities of the corporation hereby created, whether
upon note, bill or otherwise, and no director or other
officer of said corporation shall borrow any money from
said corporation.

Reservation.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the General As-
sembly expressly reserves the right to alter or repeal
this act or any part thereof at pleasure.

CHAPTER 134.

Mar. 9, 1854.

AN ACT to make valid a deed from Ann Merryman to
William Arnold, and a deed from Daniel Orrick and
Ellen, his wife to William Arnold, and a deed from
William Arnold and Emma, his wife, to James Turner,
for certain lands in Baltimore county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, by a deed bearing date on the second day
of December eighteen hundred and thirty three,
made between Ann Merryman of the one part and
William Arnold of the other part, and recorded
among the land records of Baltimore county, in Liber
T. K. No. two hundred and thirty eight, folio one
hundred and eight, which said deed is defective in
that, there are no witnesses to the signature of the
said Ann Merryman and William Arnold, and in
that the acknowledgment is not according to the form
prescribed by law; and whereas, by a deed bearing
date on the twenty-third day of October eighteen
