authorised and empowered to borrow an additional sum
of money, not exceeding three thousand dollars to fur-

nish and enclose said house; Provided, they shall fust
obtain the consent of the county commissioners, and if
the county commissioners shall deem the same advisa-
ble and proper, then it shall be the duty, and said county
commissioners, are hereby authorised and required to
levy upon the assessable property of Dorchester county,
such sum or sums of money as they in their judgment
may deem best to be applied to the purposes indicated;
Provided, the same shall not exceed three thousand
dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 118.

In force.

AN ACT, to incorporate the Mount Airy Coal and Iron
Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Frederick A. Schley, James M.
Schley, Thomas Hammond, George Schley and John
G. Lynn, and all persons who shall become associated
with them in the manner hereinafter prescribed, shall be
and they are hereby incorporated by the name of the
Mount Airy Coal and Iron Company and as such shall
have succession, and may have and use a common seal,
and be able and capable to sue and be sued, plead and be
impleaded in any court of law or equity, and may also
have, use exercise and enjoy all the powers privileges,
and rights proper and necessary for carrying on the man-
ufacture of Iron and of articles of which Iron is a com-
ponent part and for opening, working, transporting to
market and vending the produce of their lands, mines
and manufactories, and shall have power to take, pur-
chase and hold all such property, real, personal and mix-
ed, as they may require for the purpose aforesaid, and
shall have power to make and enter into all manner of
contrasts, in relation to the business and property afore-
