CHAPTER 78.

CHAP. 78.

AN ACT entitled, an Act to Amend the Charter of
the Bel-Air Turnpike Company.

Passed April
14, 1852.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Bel-Air Turnpike company
is hereby authorised and empowered to open and make
the grade of its road thirty-three feet wide, with the
artificial part thereof seventeen feet in width, instead
of sixty feet grade and twenty feet of artificial road, as
provided in the seventh section of the charter of said
company.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said company is
authorised to put up such gates or double gates, on its
road, as the said company shall deem expedient, for
the collection of tolls; Provided, that said company
shall not take or charge other or greater tolls than are
allowed by its original charter and this act.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That whenever the toll
authorised to be charged as aforesaid, shall make the
fraction of a cent, it shall be lawful for said company
to charge and receive a, whole cent instead of such
fraction, and that the charge for cattle driven over said
road shall be at the rate of ten cents for every twenty
heads.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That all persons what-
soever travelling on said road, shall be chargeable with
the tolls fixed by the original chatter and this act; Pro-
vided, that no funeral procession, or person passing from
one part of his or her farm to another part thereof, shall
be chargeable with toll.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That all provisions of
the original charter, so far as they are inconsistent with
this act, are hereby repealed, and this act shall take
effect from its passage.

serves the right to alter, amend, modify or repeal this
act at pleasure.
