1852.

division and distribution of the personal estate of per-
sons dying intestate in this State, whether such relatives
be citizens of the United States or aliens; And whereas,
the said James Galbraith, departed this life several years
ago, without having made sale of said tract of land, as
directed by said act, or having in any way executed the
trust so as aforesaid conferred upon him; And whereas,
by virtue of a decree of the High Court of Chancery of
Maryland, passed at July term, eighteen hundred and
fifty-one, Hiram McCullough, of Cecil county, was ap-
pointed trustee to make sale thereof; And whereas, in
pursuance of said decree, the said trustee on the eighth
day of September, eighteen hundred and fifty-one, did
expose at public sale the said tract or parcel of land,
and William McCullough, who was the highest bidder,
became the purchaser thereof; And whereas, since the
date of the aforesaid decree, and the sale made in pur-
suance thereof, it hath been discovered that all of the
parlies to the above mentioned proceedings in chancery,
are citizens of the United States, claiming through
aliens, and are therefore incapable of inheriting said real
estate under the laws of this State; Therefore,

CHAP. 335.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That all claim of this State to the said
lands, and to the proceeds of the sale thereof, is hereby
released in favor of the relatives of the said Samuel Gal-
braith, deceased, who are hereby authorised and em-
powered to take the same according to the provisions of
the act to direct descents as if they claimed through
citizens of the United States and not through aliens.

SEC . 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect immediately upon its passage.

CHAPTER 335.

In force.

AN ACT to provide for the re-building of the Gaol
in Harford county .

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the county commissioners of Har-
ford county are hereby authorised to levy on the assess-
able property of Harford county, such sum or sums of
money as may be necessary to re-build the gaol in Har-
ford county, and to build such additions thereto as the
