1852.

construction of said Court House and offices, shall have
been levied and collected; Provided, the same shall
not exceed the sum of twelve thousand dollars.

CHAP. 324.

Proviso.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That all levies imposed
authorised by this act, shall be levied and imposed in
the name of the said commissioners, and payable only
to their order, or the order of a majority of them.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the said commis-
sioners shall appoint one of their own number, or some

other person, a treasurer, who shall have in charge all
monies borrowed as hereinbefore provided, and who
shall pay out and disburse the same upon the orders

of a majority of the said commissioners, and keep a full
and perfect account of all monies received, and all
monies disbursed by him, with the vouchers therefor,
which he shall reader and exhibit to the said commis-
sioners, whenever by them, or a majority of them, re-
quired so to do, and faithfully to account for all monies
received by him as treasurer, as aforesaid; and the
person so appointed as treasurer, before he acts as such,
shall give bond, with securities to be approved by the
said commissioners, to the State of Maryland, in the
sum of twelve thousand dollars, conditioned for the
faithful execution of the trust hereby reposed in him,
which bond shall be lodged with the clerk of the Cir-
cuit court for Dorchester county, and recorded amongst
the public records of Dorchester county, a certified copy

of which shall be received as evidence in any court of
law or equity in this State, and the said commissioners
shall have power to fill any vacancy occurring by death
or refusal to act, or oilier disqualification of the person so
appointed as treasurer, and the person appointed to fill
such vacancy shall give bond as hereinbefore required.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That in case either of
the said commissioners shall die or resign, or refuse to
act, the other commissioners shall have full power to
supply such vacancy or vacancies.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That each of the said
commissioners shall receive such compensation as the
county commissioners shall consider due for their re-
spective services whilst engaged in contacting for and
superintending the construction and furnishing the said
building.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the Treasurer of
the State, be, and he is hereby authorised to pay, upon
the warrant of the Comptroller, to the county commis-
sioners for Dorchester county, any surplus which may
be received by him from the register of wills for Dor-
chester county, over and above the amount of twenty-
