CHAPTER 321.
AN ACT for the Relief of John Richardson, the
late Sheriff of Dorchester county, and to provide
Remedies for the loss of Fee Bills and other Pa-
pers, lost by the late burning of the Court House,
in said county.
|

WHEREAS, by the burning of the court house, in
Dorchester county, the fee bills, or many of them, of
various officers, which had been placed in the hands of
John Richardson, late sheriff of Dorchester county,
for collection according to law, were destroyed, and it
is proper to remedy, as far as possible, the inconve-
nience and injury to which he might thereby be ex-
posed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the accounts for officers fees, as
posted in the books of John Richardson, late sheriff of
Dorchester county, be, and the same are hereby made a
prima facie evidence of the correctness of such ac-
counts; Provided, the said sheriff shall prove the
same, in the manner provided by law for the probat of
accounts.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said sheriff
shall have full power and authority to collect the said
fees, in the same manner as now provided by law,
without the necessity of delivering the fee bills to the

that whenever requested by said parties, he shall deliver
to them a copy from his books, of the accounts of fees,
as posted and proved by him.

for Mining purposes.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That at any time hereafter, any five or
more free white persons, some of whom shall be citizens
of this State, of legal age, who may desire to form a
company for the purpose of carrying on any kind of
mining business, may make, sign, and acknowledge,
