CHAP. 300.
Meaning of
words and ex-
pressions.
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the following
words and expressions are intended to have the mean-
ings hereby assigned to them respectively, so far as such
meanings are not excluded by the context, or by the
nature of the subject matter, that is to say: words de-
noting the singular number are to be understood to apply
also to a plurality of persons or things, and the word
person shall apply to bodies politic and corporate, and
the word child shall include son and daughter, and all
corporations shall be responsible under this act for the
wrongful acts, neglect or default, of all agents employ-
ed by them.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect three months after the date of its passage.

AN ACT to pay to the Captain of the Eckhart Light
Artillery Company, a sum of money for repairs to
Gun Carriages belonging to the State, and for
Harness.
|
|
|
|
Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, it appears that the Eckhart Light Artil-
lery Company, of Allegany county, was furnished
from the armory at Frederick, several pieces of cannon ;
And whereas, it became necessary to the efficient use
of said cannon, to have the gun carriages repaired, and
to procure additional harness; Therefore,

Authority to
pay.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Treasurer of the Stale, on the warrant
of the Comptroller, pay to Captain M. O. Davidson,
or his order, the sum of one hundred and seventy-nine
dollars, out of any unappropriated money in the Trea-
sury, for the use of the Eckhart Light Artillery Com-
pany, that being the amount for which the said Com-
pany is indebted for repairs to gun carriages, and for the
purchase of harness belonging to the State.
