CHAPTER 289.

AN ACT to Authorise the County Commissioners
for Dorchester County to adopt and use as Evi-
dence of the Ownership of Assessable Property in
the said County, for the purposes of taxation, the
Former Assessment List of eighteen hundred and
fifty-one, now in the hands of the Collector.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the county commissioners for Dor-
chester county, be, and they are hereby authorised to

adopt and use as evidence of the assessable property,
and the value thereof, in the county, and the ownership
thereof, for the purposes of taxation, the former assess-
ment lists of eighteen hundred and fifty-one, now in
the hands of the collector, in as full and as ample
manner, and to all intents and purposes, as they have
heretofore used the assessment or valuation, or return of
assessors, made under the provisions of the act of the
General Assembly, passed at December session eighteen
hundred and forty-one, chapter twenty-three.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said commis-
sioners shall meet in the town of Cambridge on as early
a day as practicable after the passage of this act, and
proceed at once to copy the assessment lists of eighteen
hundred and fifty-one, now in the hands of the collec-
tor, and to make their levy thereon, with such abate-
ments and alterations as they can recollect, were made
previous to the burning of their office and papers.

CHAPTER 290.

Duty of com-
missioners.

AN ACT to provide for the per diem allowance of

the Judges of the Orphans' court of Anne Arundel
county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the judges of the Orphans' court of
Anne Arundel county, for their services, shall each be
allowed the sum of three dollars per day for every day
they may attend as such.
