CHAPTER 257.

AN ACT to authorise the Treasurer of the Nanti-
coke Bridge Company, to pay to the Directors of
said Company, the Dividends due the State, to be
applied towards repairing said Bridge.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, It is represented to this General Assem-
bly, that the bridge over the Nanticoke river at Vienna,
between Dorchester find Somerset counties, is now in
a very dilapidated condition, the damages which it re-
ceived from the ice last winter, so injured said bridge as
to render the passage dangerous to the travelling com-
munity; And whereas, the said bridge is of vast im-
portance to the citizens of the lower counties of the
Eastern Shore, and the citizens of that portion of the
State will suffer great inconvenience and injury if said
bridge is not repaired; And whereas, the State owns
one-third of the stuck in said bridge, and the said com-
pany are unable to repair said bridge without the aid of
the State dividends now declared and due; There-
fore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Treasurer of the Nanticoke Bridge
company, be, and he is hereby authorised to pay to the
directors of said company, the dividends now declared
and due the State, to aid in repairing said bridge, and
the said company are hereby authorised and required
to apply the said dividends towards the repair of the

said bridge; Provided, the dividends due the private
stockholders in the hands of the Treasurer, be applied
to repairs of said bridge.

AN ACT to establish a New Election District in
Talbot county.

New district.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That for the greater convenience of
voting in Talbot county, a new election district be cre-
ated by the division of election district, number two,

of said county.
