1852.

CHAPTER 228.

AN ACT to authorise the Commissioners of Balti-
more county, to levy on said county a sum sufficient

to pay the additional expenses incurred in holding
the second Inquisition over the body of Joseph C.
Miller, late of Pennsylvania.

CHAP. 229.

20, 1852.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the commissioners of Baltimore county are
hereby directed and required to levy on the assessable
property of said county, at the time of making their
next levy, a sum sufficient to pay the jurors and wit-
nesses unending the said inquisition, residing in said
county, not exceeding eighty-four dollars; and the act-
ing coroner in said case, is hereby directed to make out
a statement or list of the names of said jurors and wit-
nesses, allowing the same pay as is now allowed by
law to jurors and witnesses, and file the same in the
county commissioners office.

CHAPTER 229.

Authority to

levy.

AN ACT to amend an Act entitled, an Act for the
protection of Miners, Mechanics, Laborers and
others, employed in Mines and Manufactories, in
the county of Allegany, and for other purposes,
passed at December session, eighteen hundred and
forty-seven, chapter two hundred and twenty-eight.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the act passed at December session, eighteen

hundred and forty-seven, chapter two hundred and

twenty-eight, which in the first section provides, that
after a refusal or neglect to pay employees ninety days,
when the aggregate amount of their indebtedness is

five hundred dollars, receivers may be appointed to take
charge of their affairs, shall be so amended that from
and after the passage of this act, a neglect or refusal to
pay any of their employees, for the space of thirty
days, upon an aggregate indebtedness then due of
twenty-five dollars, shall subject all operators in mines
and manufactories in Allegany county, to all the pro-
