AN ACT to empower Jacob Summers, of C., and
Lewis Ramsburg, of M., of the German Reformed
Church, and William Metzger and Daniel Main,
of the Lutheran Church, to sell, dispose of and con-
vey a certain piece or parcel of land in Frederick
county.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, Philip Rodenpiller, on the twenty-eighth
day of September, seventeen hundred and eighty-six,
did execute a deed or instrument of writing, conveying
to Jacob Sagaser, one of the elders of the German
Reformed Congregation, and Michael Troutman, an el-
der of the German Lutheran Congregation, and their
successors in trust, a part or parcel of land called Se-
cond Choice, situated in Frederick county, Maryland,
for the joint and equal use and enjoyment of the said
German Reformed and Lutheran churches or congre-
gations; And whereas, the members of the said two
churches or congregations, by their petition to this Gen-
eral Assembly, express their anxious desire to sell and
dispose of the said parcel of land, excepting the en-
enclosed grave yard on the said land, and that the pro-
ceeds of such sale or sales should be equally divided
between the said two churches or congregations.

Authority to
sell.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Jacob Summers, of C., Lewis
Ramsburg, of M., William Metzger and Daniel Main,
or a majority of them, or the survivors of them, be,
and they are hereby authorised and empowered to sell,
dispose of and convey in fee simple, the said piece or
tract of land above named, excepting the enclosed

Proviso.
|
grave-yard on said land; Provided, that the consider-
ation money, after the necessary expenses are deducted
in effecting the sale of said land, shall be appropriated
by them in equal portions, for the use and benefit of the
Christian denominations, known as the Lutheran and
German Reformed churches or congregations aforesaid.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
