manner by the said Commissioner of the Land office,
and in that case, a patent may issue or not, according as
the Commissioner of the Land office may decide upon
such caveat: but in neither case shall the said Woods
be required to pay, or shew that the composition money
on said land has been paid.

CHAP. 143.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That for the services
hereby required to be performed by the said commis-
sioner, he shall be emitted to the compensation allowed
by law for the like services.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
act contained shall, in any wise, affect or impair the
rights of any person or persons in or to the land therein
mentioned, acquired before the passage of this act.

force from the passage thereof.

CHAPTER 143.

AN ACT to amend an Act entitled, an Act to In-
corporate the Proprietors of Baltimore Cemetery,
passed at the December Session, eighteen hundred
and forty-nine, chapter seventy-one, granting
power to said Company, to convey certain portions

of their Grounds, and to increase its Capital
Stock.

29, 1852.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Baltimore Cemetery com-
pany, which was incorporated by and under an act,
passed at the December session, eighteen hundred and
forty-nine, chapter seventy-one, be, and they are hereby
authorized to sell, lease for a term, not exceeding ten
years, or mortgage such portion of their grounds, as
have not been laid out into burial lots, prior to the
time of such sale, lease, or mortgage.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said
company are hereby authorized, for the purpose of en-
closing the said cemetery with a permanent wall or
railing, to increase the capital stock of said company,
from time to time, not exceeding fifty thousand dollars,
to defray the expenses thereof.

shall be in force from the passage thereof.
