An act to make valid a certain devise to the Metho-
dist church, in the city of Annapolis.
|
Preamble
|
WHEREAS, It is represented to this General As-
sembly by the petition of the Reverend Joseph Wyatt
and others, elders of the Methodist church of the city
of Annapolis, that a certain Milbourne Segill of said
city, devised to them by his last will and testament,
and a codicil thereto, the sum of two hundred and
fifty dollars for the use of said Methodist church;
And whereas, Doubts have arisen as to the validity of
that part of said will: —For remedy whereof,

Devise made
valid.
|
BE IT EM ACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a devise made by Milbourne Segill,
late of the city of Annapolis, deceased, to the Rev.
Joseph Wyatt and others, for the use of the Method-
ist church of said city, be, and the same is hereby
made valid; any law, usage or custom to the contrary
notwithstanding.

CHAPTER 102.

An act entitled, A supplement to the act of seven-
teen hundred and eighty-five, and the supplemen-
tary acts thereto, which provide for the poor of
Dorchester county.
|
Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, Experience has proved the advanta-
ges which will result from changing the regulations of
the alms and work-house of Dorchester county, now
established by the act of seventeen hundred and eigh-
ty-five, and the supplementary acts thereto: — There-
fore,

Justices or jud-
ges of the levy
court may ap-
point trustees.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That after the passage of this act, the jus-
tices or judges of the levy court of Dorchester coun-
ty, or a majority of them, shall have the full power of
electing seven trustees, who shall be competent in vir-
tue of this act to conduct the business of the alms and
work-house as aforesaid.

Vacancies shall
be supplied by
justices or jud-
ges of the levy
court.
|
AMD BE IT ENACTED, That if any vacancy
of any trustee or trustees shall happen from any cause
whatever, such vacancy or vacancies (as the case may
be. ) shall be filled up by the justices or fudges of the
levy court of the county aforesaid, or a majority of
them.
