ers, such compensation as may appear reasonable for
services performed under this act, to be paid out of
the proceeds of sales made by said commissioner or
commissioners.

An act to change the sur-name of Charles Perry,
of Dorchester county, and his children, to the.
name Lowe.
|
Preamble,
|
WHEREAS, It is represented to this General As-
sembly, by the petition of Charles Perry, of Dorches-
ter county, that be labours under the misfortune to
have been born illegitimate, that his mother's name
was Mary Perry until she intermarried with William
Lowe (of John, ) his reputed father, so that he is some-
times called Perry after his mother, and sometimes
Lowe after his father, that his father died in seventeen
hundred and eighty-five, having previously made his
will, by which he devised to him ail his lands by the
name of Charles Perry, and he being anxious to be
called after his father, and that his children should
bear the same name, and praying that an act may
pass to confirm to him and his children the name of
Lowe, in addition to their respective christian
names; and the prayer of the petitioner appearing rea-
sonable: Therefore,

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the sur-name of Lowe, taken, assum-
ed and used by Charles Perry, of Dorchester county
be, and the same is hereby confirmed and made valid;
and the name of the said Perry is hereby changed and
altered unto the name of Charles Lowe, and he and
his descendants shall at all times hereafter be called
and known by, and hold and use the sur-name of
Lowe only, and by such sur-name shall sue and be
sued in any court of law or equity.

AND BE IT ENACTED, That all securities,
promises, contracts, assurances, deeds and lawful
acts whatsoever heretofore made or done, or hereafter
to be made or done by or to the said Charles Lowe,
by 'the name and sur-name of Charles Perry, shall be
of the same force, validity and effect,, and equally
avail to all intents and purposes., as if the name and
sur-name of Charles Lowe had been the true and
proper name and sur-name of the said Charles Lowe
from his birth, any law or custom to the contrary not-
withstanding,
