make such com-
pensation as
they shall think
proper.

more be, and they are hereby authorised and empow-
ed to make such additional compensation to the pre-
sent chief justice of the court of oyer and terminer
and jail delivery for Baltimore county, for his services,
as they, the said mayor and city council, at their dis-
cretion, may think right and proper, not exceeding
six hundred dollars per annum.

He may receive
such compensa-
tion.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the present chief
justice of the court of oyer and terminer and jail de-
livery for Baltimore county may, and he is hereby au-
thorised and empowered to receive such sum of mo-
ney in addition to his present salary.

Amount may
he levied on the
city.

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said mayor
and city council may annually levy the amount of such
additional compensation on the assessable property in
the city of Baltimore.

CHAPTER 206.

Passed Jan. 7,
1812.

A supplement to the act entitled, "An act con-
cerning crimes and punishments. "

Convicts may
pray the court
before whom
they have been
or shall be tried.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That all persons who shall have been, or
may hereafter be convicted of any crime committed
after the passage of the act to which this is a supple-
ment, and during the suspension thereof, he or she
may openly pray the court before whom such offender
has been or shall be tried, that sentence may be pro-
nounced agreeably to the provisions of said act for the
like offence; in which case, the said court shall com-
ply with the said prayer, and pass such sentence on
such convict, as they would have passed had the said
offence been commuted subsequent to the passage
and operation of the act to which this is a supplement

CHAPTER 207.

An act to establish a Bank and incorporate a com-
pany under the name of the Cumberland Bank
of Allegany.

Where to be
established.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a bank to be called and known by
the name of the Cumberland Bank of Allegany shall
be established in Cumberland in Allegany county.
