LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 97.

their associates, who now constitute the Maryland State
Agricultural Society, and others who shall be hereafter
admitted members of the same, be and they are hereby
constituted a body politic and corporate, with succession,
under the style and title of the Maryland State Agricul-
tural Society, with power to them and their successors,
to adopt a common seal, and the same to alter and
change, and by the corporate name above mentioned, to
sue and be sued, implead and be impleaded, and to
take and hold property, real, personal and mixed, and
the same to sell, exchange or otherwise dispose of, and
in general to do, perform and suffer, with reference to
the hereinbefore mentioned purposes of their incorpora-
tion, all acts and things which may lawfully be done,
performed and suffered by a natural person.

May establish
regulations.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this incorporation,
or a majority of the members of the same, shall have
full power to make a system of rules and regulations,
under the denomination of constitution, bye-laws, or
otherwise, not inconsistent with the laws of the State,
for the management of the affairs of said society, and
the same to alter and amend, abrogate and annul, when-
ever they may think proper, and that the present offi-
cers of the said society shall continue in their respective
stations, until an election shall be made under this act,
and the constitution, bye-laws, resolutions and ordinan-
ces now in force, not inconsistent with the laws of this
State, shall be good and valid until altered, amended,
or abrogated by the corporation.

Banking forbid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to authorise the said corporation
to issue any note, token or other evidence of debt, to be
used as currency.

CHAPTER 97.

1850.

An act for the benefit of George A. D. Clarke, of Al-
legany County.

Relief granted.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That George A. D. Clarke, of Allegany county, be
and is hereby authorised to apply for the benefit of the
insolvent laws at any time after the passage of this act,
in the same manner and with the same effect as if he
