An act to incorporate the Port Washington Mining
and Furnace Company.

&c.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Napoleon B. Hull, Henry W.
Dellinger, Michael Smith, William Dodge, Martin
Myers, Frederick B. Snyder, and Michael P. Smith,
and their associates, successors and assigns, he and
they are hereby created a body corporate and politic,
by the name and style of the Fort Washington Mining
Company, and by that name shall have succession,
and shall be able and capable in law to sue and be
sued, implead and be impleaded, answer and be an-
swered in any court of law or equity, and to make
and use a common seal, and the same to alter and
change at pleasure, and to ordain and establish such
ordinances, bye-laws, and regulations as shall be ne-
cessary or convenient for conducting the affairs of the
corporation, and not repugnant to the laws of this
State.

Objects of the
corporation.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the object of the
aforesaid corporation is declared to be the carrying on.
of mining operations at or near the town of Clear-
spring, in Washington county, and for that purpose,
to hold real estate and personal property, and to adopt
such means, and to pursue such measures, as shall be
deemed expedient for the successful prosecution of
that enterprise.

Capital stock,
&c.
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the capital stock of
the aforesaid company shall not exceed fifty thousand
dollars, to consist of ten thousand shares of five dol-
lars each, payable in part in cash, and in part in rights
and privileges, but the directors hereinafter provided
for, shall have the privilege of borrowing a sum in
addition to the capital, not exceeding, in the whole,
fifty thousand dollars, on the credit and security of
the said company, and the whole property of the cor-
poration shall be liable and responsible for their debts,
contracts and engagements incurred pursuant to the
powers given by this act.
