CHAP. 556.

the books and papers in any manner appertaining or be-
longing to said court.

Duty of the
clerk.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That upon application to
the said clerk, he shall exhibit the books, levies and
papers to the inspection of any person or persons apply-
ing to view the same, and make copies or extracts there-
of, without any charge therefor.

Compensation.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That each of this com-
missioners shall be entitled to receive two dollars per
day, for every day he shall necessarily attend to the du-
ties of his office.

Incorporated,
etc.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
to be elected as aforesaid, and their successors, shall be
and they are hereby constituted a body politic and cor-
porate, by the name, style and title of the commission-
ers of Prince George's county, and by that name shall
have, continued succession, and be capable in law of
sueing and being sued, of making and using a corporate
seal, of doing all such acts as shall be necessary to the
exercise of all powers which are or shall be vested in
them by this act, or by any other act of Assembly, as
fully and effectually us corporate bodies may or can
lawfully or rightfully do.

Corporate
powers.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That when, as soon as
the commissioners to be elected or appointed as afore-
said, shall have taken and subscribed the usual oath or
affirmation, required by the preceding section of this act,
all the powers, rights and privileges lawfully exercised
by, and all property, estate and effects vested in the jus-
tices of the levy court of Prince George's county, shall
be transferred to and vested in the commissioners for
Prince George's county, who, or a majority of them,
shall hereafter exercise all the said powers, rights and
privileges, and shall perform all the duties now required
by law, to be performed by the said justices of the levy
court of Prince George's county.

Not to affect
pending suits.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That all suits at law
and in equity, which may be pending at the time of the

passage of this act, by and against the justices of the

levy court of said county, shall be carried on in like
manner, and have the same legal effect, either in favor
of or against the said commissioners, provided for by this

act, as if such suit or suits had been instituted by of
against the said commissioners.

Inconsistent
acts repealed.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That all acts and parts of
acts inconsistent with and contrary to the provisions of
this act, be and the same are hereby repealed and an-
nulled.
