missioners, and the clerk shall thereupon declare who is
and shall be commissioner or commissioners, according
to the result of the drawing.

CHAP. 556.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That each and every
commissioner elected or appointed as aforesaid, shall be-
fore he enters on the duties of his office, take and sub-

scribe before some, judge or justice of the peace of said
county, an oath or affirmation, that he will be faithful
and bear true allegiance to the State of Maryland, that
he will, to the best of his skill and judgment, diligently
and faithfully, without partiality or prejudice, favor or
affection, execute and discharge the duties of the office
of commissioner of said county, according to the consti-
tution and laws of the State, which oath or affirmation,
certified and subscribed by the judge or justice adminis-
tering the same, shall be recorded in the office of said
county court.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That it shall be the
duty of said board of commissioners, annually to ap-
point a clerk, and in case of vacancy from any cause, to
supply said vacancy at their first meeting thereafter, or
as soon as practicable, whose duty it shall be to transact
all the business and discharge all the duties now apper-
taining to the clerk of the levy court of said county, in
the same manner as die clerk of the levy court of said
county, is now authorised and required to transact the
same; and the person so appointed, shall before he en-
ters upon the duties of his office, execute a bond to the
State of Maryland, to be approved by said commission-
ers, in the penal sum of one thousand dollars, conditioned
for the faithful performance of the several and respective
duties imposed upon him by law, which bond shall be
recorded in the office of the clerk of said county, and a
copy thereof, under the seal of the said court, shall be as
sufficient evidence as the original, and the said clerk,
when so appointed, shall also take an oath or affirma-
tion, that as clerk to the commissioners of Prince
George's county, he will diligently and faithfully, with-
out partiality or prejudice, discharge the duties of said
office to the best of his skill and judgment, which oath
or affirmation any one of the said commissioners is
hereby authorised to administer, and the said clerk shall
be entitled to receive a salary of three hundred dollars
annually, to be levied on the assessable property of said
county, and collected and paid over as other county
charges are collected, and the said clerk so appointed
and qualified, shall have power to demand of and re-
ceive from the clerk of the levy court, of said county, all
