CHAP. 546.

demanded, and if the amount claimed be disputed by
the party, he shall annex an affidavit that the same is
due and unpaid.

In force, etc.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage, and continue in force until the
first, day of January, one thousand eight hundred and
fifty-two, and no longer.

CHAPTER 545.

An act to make valid the acts of David Sommers, a
Justice of the Peace, of Allegany County.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, some double exist as to the qualification of
David Sommers, as Justice of the Peace of Allegany
county, in order, therefore, that the acts of said David
Sommers may be made good and valid in law, — There-
fore,

Made valid.

Be it enacted by the Gem-rat Assembly of Maryland,
That all the acts and proceedings of said David Som-
mers, a justice of the peace, appointed in and for Alle-
gany county, be and they are hereby declared to be <is
good and valid in law, as if the said Sommers hind ap-
plied to, and obtained his certificate of appointment
from, the clerk of Allegany county.

CHAPTER 546.

An act to authorise the straightening of a Road therein
mentioned.

Road to be
straightened.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the citizens of Caroline and
Queen Anne's counties, immediately interested, he and
they are hereby authorised to straighten so much of the
public road leading from Cleaves' forks, through the
village of Tempelsville, to the line of Delaware, us they
may desire, it being the divisional line between the said

Proviso.

it does now or shall then run, shall object to the
