LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 540.

should it be found necessary to issue the same, there
shall annually be levied upon the taxable properly of
the county, the sum of fifteen hundred dollars.

Compensation.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the said building
commissioners may appoint one of their own body as
clerk or secretary, who shall keep their accounts and
proceedings, and that an exact account of all monies
they may disburse shall be reported to the com-
missioners of Baltimore county, and when the ob-
ject of their appointment is accomplished, the said
commissioners shall file all their books, papers and ac-
counts with the commissioners of Baltimore county,
and the said building commissioners shall be entitled
to receive such compensation for their services as may
be just and proper, to be allowed by the commission-
ers of Baltimore county.

Vacancies —
how filled.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That if at any time
hereafter a vacancy should happen in the board of
building commissioners hereby created, either by
death, refusal to serve or resignation, such vacancy
shall be filled by the commissioners of Baltimore
county.

Authorities of
Baltimore city
may purchase.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the mayor and
city council of the city of Baltimore, be and they are
hereby authorised to treat with and purchase from the
commissioners of Baltimore county, the interest of
the said county in the said joint property, as herein-
before specified, and as specified in the seventh sec
tion of the act of eighteen hundred and thirty-four,
chapter one hundred and fifty-one, and for the pur-
pose of defraying the expanse incurred by the city in
making said purchase, the mayor and city council of
Baltimore, are hereby authorised and required to cre-
ate a slock, not exceeding in amount the sum agreed
to be paid for the said interest of the said county in
said joint property, to be denominated the joint pro-
perty slock, and bearing an interest of six per centum
per annum, payable semi-annnally, irredeemable for
twenty years, which said stock shall he transferred to
the commissioners of Baltimore county, and by them,
hold as a fund for the carrying into effect the inten-
tions of this act.

In case of disa-
greement, &c.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That in case the
commissioners of Baltimore county, and the mayor
and city council of Baltimore, shall be unable to
agree upon the sum to be paid as herein provided for
the interest of said county in the said joint property,
then it shall be lawful for the commissioners of Balti-
more county to appoint one suitable and proper per-
