LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 540.

election of county commissioners, and the same laws
applicable to and applying to said election, shall in
respects govern and apply to the elections hereby
authorised to be held by this act.

Notice to be
given.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall be the
duty of the sheriff of Baltimore county, and he it
hereby required under the penalty of five hundred
dollars, to give at least three weeks public notice by
advertisement in the Baltimore County Advocate, and
by hand bills to be set up at least three weeks prior
to the said limited day, at the respective places of
holding elections in the several election districts of
said county, that an election will be held as provided
for by this act, on the second Wednesday in May
next, for the purpose of electing three commissioners
from each election district as provided for in the
aforegoing sections of this act.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the commission-
ers of Baltimore county, or a majority of them, be
and they are hereby authorised and required at
their meeting to be held on the first Tuesday in June
next, to appoint three persons residents of the coun-
ty, of experience and judgment, who when so appoint-
ed, shall be and they are hereby constituted commis-
sioners, for the purpose of purchasing or receiving by
gift or otherwise, such lot or lots of land as may have
been determined upon, as hereinbefore provided for,
as a site for the public buildings of said county, and
to purchase the necessary materials and supplies for
the erection of the same in a good and substantial
manner, and that in the execution of the authority
hereby granted by this act the said commissioners, or
a majority of them, may adopt and pursue such plan
or plans as they, or a majority of them, shall decide to
be most expedient and necessary for the accommoda-
tion of the public and to facilitate the operations of the
courts of justice of said county, and the public func-
tionaries connected therewith in the administration
of justice.

Authority to
sell.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the commission-
ers of Baltimore county, or a majority of them, be
and they are hereby authorised to sell, exchange or
dispose of all or any part or parts of the county's pro-
portion of the joint property of the said county and
city of Baltimore, except the court house and record
office, on such terms as they, or a majority of them,
in their judgment may deem most conducive to the
interest of the said county, and if sold, the payments
to be one-fourth in cash and the remaining three
