SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act may
be amended or in any manner altered at the discretion
of the Legislature, and that nothing herein contained
shall be so construed as to authorise the said corporation
to issue any note, token or device, or other evidence of
debt, to be used as a currency.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the sec-
ond section of an act passed December session, eigh-
teen hundred and forty-seven, chapter one hundred
and seventy-seven, be and the same is hereby re-
pealed.

An Act entitled, an act to alter and change the name
of Mary Ann Josephine Strange, of Washington
county.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the name of Mary Ann Josephine Strange, a
resident of Washington county, be and the same is
hereby altered and changed to Mary Ann Josephine
McClain, and it shall be lawful for the said Mary Ann
Josephine McClain at all times hereafter to be called
and known by, and hold and use the name of Mary
Ann Josephine McClain, and by that name shall have
the right to purchase, sell, convey, devise, or receive
by bequest, any property hereafter devised, to sue and
be sued in any court of law and equity.
