1849.

SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That it shall be lawful
for the company hereby created, to lay out, build and
construct a plank road along the line of the contempla-
ted or proposed rail road, both for the purpose of facili-
tating the making and construction of the said rail road.,
as also for the further purpose of transporting passen-
gers, goods, wares, merchandise, or other articles, and
to demand, collect and receive for the same such freight,
charges or tolls as shall, from time to time, be fixed by
resolutions or bye-laws of the company, created in pur-
suance of this charter, shall provide.

CHAP. 499.

SEC. 21. And be it enacted. That if this road, or
roads, shall not be commenced in four years from the
passage of this, and shall not be finished in eight years
from the time of its commencement, then this act shall
be null and void.

SEC. 22. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to authorise said company to
issue any note, token, scrip, or other evidence of debt,
to be used as currency, and the Legislature hereby re-
serves the right to alter, amend or repeal this act, at
pleasure.

Banking forbid.

CHAPTER 499.

An act to incorporate the Metamora Building Society.

Passed
March 7, 1850.

WHEREAS, Frederick Heinz, Henry F. Hoffman,
Conrad Schlott, Henry Weisbach, Henry Vey, John
C. Ermold, Ludwig Waidner, George Puhl, John
Zinkan, Henry Heidrich, Jacob Schafer, George D.
Volkmar, Conrad Moeller, William Mensel, and others,
have formed a voluntary association in the city of
Baltimore, under the name of the Metamora Building
Society, for the purpose of enabling its members, in
an easy manner, to form a capital by their savings for
the building or purchase of a house; and whereas,
the object of said association is praiseworthy, and
should be encouraged as tending to promote the gene-
ral welfare of the State.

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Frederick Heinz, Henry F. Hoff

man, Conrad Schlott, Henry Weisbach, Henry Vey,
John C. Ermold, Ludwig Waidner, George Puhl, John
Zinkan, Henry Hedrich, Jacob Schafer, George D.
