but no measure shall be considered as adopted at any
meeting of stockholders, unless sanctioned by a ma-
jority of all the votes which could be given at the time,
in said company, supposing all the stockholders pre-
sent.

CHAP. 483.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this act
of incorporation shall continue in force for twenty-one
years, and no longer, and the legislature hereby re-
serves the right to alter, amend or repeal this act at its
pleasure.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
act shall he so construed as to authorise the said cor-
poration to issue any note, token, device, scrip or
other evidence of debt to be used as currency.

CHAPTER 483.

Banking forbid.

An act to allow James Morris, late Collector of the

Second Collection District of Howard District, of
Anne Arundel County, further time to complete his
collections for the years eighteen hundred and forty-
three, and eighteen hundred and forty-four.

Passed Mar. 9,
1850.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That James Morris, late collector of the
second collection district of Howard district, be and
he is hereby authorised and empowered to collect
any taxes or balances of taxes, for the years eighteen
hundred and forty-three, and eighteen hundred and
forty-four, respectively, now remaining due to and un-
collected by him in the said collection district, in the
same manner and with the same powers and privile-
ges as are allowed by the existing laws in such cases
made and provided.

Time extended.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said James
Morris, shall in every case in which taxes may be
due to and uncollected by him, before he shall pro-
ceed to the collection of the same, make affidavit, be-
fore a justice of the peace, for Howard district, that
the same remains due and uncollected and that he has
not received any part or parcel thereof, or any securi-
ty or satisfaction for this same, more than such credit
as may be endorsed thereon; provided always, that if
any person or persons against whom taxes may be
preferred by the said James Morris, collector as afore-
