An act to incorporate the German Reformed and Evan-
gelical Lutheran Congregations of Saint Mary's
Church, in Carroll county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, application has been made to this Gen-
eral Assembly, for an act of incorporation in behalf of
the German Reformed and Evangelical Lutheran Con-
gregations of Saint Mary's Church, in Carroll county,
which may enable them to manage, with convenience,
their temporal concerns.

Incorporated,
etc.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Daniel Stonesifer, Frederick Ying-
ling, George Koonz, John Hesson, elders of the Ger-
man Reformed Congregation, and David Myers, John
Lawyer, John Myers, George Bawers, elders of the
Evangelical Lutheran Congregation, and their suc-
cessors, to be elected agreeably to the rules and regu-
lations of said church, shall he and hereby are created
and declared a body politic and corporate, by the name,
style and title of the trustees of Saint Mary's Church,
in Carroll county, and by that name shall have suc-
cession, and shall be able to sue and be sued, to im-
plead and be impleaded, in any court of law or equity,
in this State or elsewhere, and to make and have a
common seal, and the same to break, alter or renew
at their pleasure, and also to ordain and establish such
bye-laws and ordinances as shall appear necessary for
regulating the temporal concerns of said church, and
for promoting literature within the same, not being
repugnant to this act, or the laws of this State.

Corporate
powers.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all the lands and
tenements heretofore conveyed by a certain Joseph
Dyer, to John Layman, Nicholas Deal, George Michael
Derr, Charles Angel, by a deed bearing dale the four-
teenth day of March, seventeen hundred and sixty-
eight, to them and their successors, in trust, forever,
for the German Reformed, and Lutheran Congrega-
tion, shall be and are absolutely and unconditionally
vested in said body corporate, and their successors,
forever, and the said corporation shall be, and they
