CHAP. 302.

An to Incorporate the Trustees of the Methodist Epis-
copal Church, of Patapsco Circuit.

Passed Feb. 27,
1850.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly
of Maryland, that the Methodist Episcopal church, citi-
zens of Howard district, of Anne Arundel county, and
Carroll county, holding and occupying several churches,
chapels, and other places of public worship, to them se-
cured by deed or otherwise, to sundry persons as trus-
tees, to hold and manage the property for the use of the
aforesaid church; and whereas, some of the aforesaid
chapels or churches are of ancient date, and have sur-
vived the original trustees, and although others have
been appointed as their successors, yet the records of the
church are in some cases imperfect; and whereas, it is
desirable to have one general board of trustees, for all
the churches and chapels of the said Patapsco circuit;
and whereas, no legislation, heretofore made by this
State, provides for this case — Therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Richard Brown, Samuel Gore,
Joshua Frizzle, Nicholas Harden, Samuel Bennett,
Samuel Morton, Christian Devries, Zadox Walas,
Thomas Banes, Thomas H. Hood, John Thompson,
Nicholison Vansant, Samuel Dorsey, Ashney Peddicord,
Caleb Shipley, senior, Caleb Shipley, junior, Caleb
Sheetz, Henry W. Hood, Dennis Hobbs, James H.
Hobbs, Anthony Smith, McLane Brown, J. Plummer
Johns, Thomas Newton, Stephen Bryan, Samuel
France, James Earp, and William Mills, and their suc-
cessors in office, appointed and perpetuated as hereinaf-
ter provided, shall be and they, and their successors, are
hereby declared to be a corporation and body politic, by
the name and style of the Trustees of the Methodist
Episcopal Church of Patapsco Circuit, and by that name
they shall be and are hereby made able and capable, in
law, to have, hold, receive, possess, acquire, enjoy and
retain to them, and their successors in office, all the es-
tate, grounds, churches, chapels, buildings, improve-
ments, and properly of every description, whether real,
mixed or personal, now properly belonging to the Me-
thodist Episcopal church, within the bounds of Patapsco
circuit, whether in law or equity , as now held and oc-
cupied by the said church for public worship, to manage
and control the same, for the use and benefit of the cir-
cuit aforesaid, according to the rules and discipline of the

Incorporated,
